Wildlife
With over 140 species of birds spotted in Silver Lakes, the various lakes, dams and natural areas provide an ideal environment for a variety of animals. In 2001, a nature reserve area was incorporated into Silver Lakes. This area is home to free roaming blesbuck, nyala, impala, duiker, zebra, kudu and springbuck. A natural wetland forms the hub of the game reserve where water birds and game congregate. In addition several heritage sites were discovered in this area dating back to the late Iron Age. Nature trails as well as a game viewing deck are popular retreats for Silver Lakes residents. Besides the game reserve, the area also has approximately 180 properties which were positioned to ensure maximum views and privacy.
