HOW TO REDUCE STRESS WHEN MOVING INTO A NEW HOME

Category Advice

Moving is right up with divorce, financial troubles and loss of a loved one as one of the top stressful life events but it need not be a nerve-racking experience. Most of the stress from moving can be eliminated or reduced with careful planning and requesting some help.

Role of real estate agent

During COVID-times the purchasing of a home became a particularly drawn-out process. The Deeds Office was closed for a period of time with the resultant effect of long delays with registrations. This is where having the right real estate agent was of great value. An agent who is professional, who can provide sound advice, who knows the ins and outs of property transactions and most importantly, can be trusted are all key attributes to ensuring a smooth transaction.

Use a reputable removal company

Once the relocation has been decided on make sure to plan the move from beginning to end. It is a good idea to use professional packers to help with the move. The packers will come a few days before the moving day to pack the smaller items into boxes and to wrap appliances and furniture if necessary. It would be best to personally pack personal and fragile objects. On the day of the move allow the movers take charge and move the household contents. Keep aside linen, towels, personal hygiene items, kettle and toaster as well as other essentials for the first night in the new house.

Reach out for help

At any time during this process reach out for help, never be afraid to ask for assistance. Even if this help is in the form of a chat with a friend to relieve the stress of the move. Take time to unpack and arrange things in the new house, find time to enjoy a strong cup of coffee, a glass of wine or a nice cup of tea - it is will be well deserved.
